Excuse the Spanish while I’m in Italy. It simply rhymes. 😉
I’m currently in Vernazza as I type this. This used to be a town that has endeared my heart, but it’s just overly crowded to appreciate it now.
Hence, I’m posting about Manarola instead. It’s just 2 stops away by train, between the Riomaggiore and Corniglia of the Cinque Terre towns.
We got there around 9:30am and it was just lovely. It wasn’t as crowded.
The first order of the day: gelato. Of course. When in Italy, get as much gelato as your tummy can handle.
I had two scoops — a mix of vanilla and coffee. What an Italian breakfast treat indeed.
Behind the gelato is a view of the Ligurian Sea and.. well, sunbathing humans.
Go along further and you’ll have a breathtaking view of more sea and the other towns — Corniglia and Vernazza.
I love the view of water, but the beauty of flowers, in their simplicity, also captures my heart.
Aren’t those flowers such a display of beauty?
Parched from the rising heat of the sun, I prepared to exit the town with a fresh melon and peach smoothie made with rice milk.
It just took me less than 5 minutes to chug it down!
It was a lovely smoothie/gelato shop.
We stayed there for a good 2 hours to really just take in the good views of the sea. On this particular trip, Manarola wins over Vernazza.
